Labubu vs. Zimomo: Differences & Buying Guide

Labubu and Zimomo are different characters in Kasing Lung’s The Monsters world. Zimomo is not simply the name for any oversized Labubu. When buying a collectible, identify the character first, then the exact series, size, and format.

POP MART’s designer introduction places both characters in The Monsters and identifies Kasing Lung as the creator. That is a more useful starting point than marketplace titles that put several character names together.

How do you tell them apart?

A tail is a commonly cited visual distinction: Zimomo is typically depicted with one, while Labubu is typically depicted without one. Use that as a prompt to inspect the back of the figure, not as a complete authentication method. Compare the exact release with its official reference images and packaging. CNA’s introduction to The Monsters describes the tail distinction, but release-specific manufacturer information should take precedence over broad rules.

Request front, side, and rear photos if the character is unclear. A cropped face photo may omit the detail you need. Costumes, poses, and product formats can also make a quick comparison harder, so the printed release name matters.

Is Zimomo always bigger than Labubu?

Do not use size alone to identify the character. POP MART’s figure collection includes a ZIMOMO Warm Sweater Figure, while its The Monsters collection includes MEGA LABUBU formats and a ZIMOMO vinyl plush doll. The character name and the format are separate pieces of information.

Our catalog makes the same distinction practical: the Zimomo Mini 1 Secret listing is a miniature collectible. A buyer searching for a large Zimomo doll should not assume that this listing is the same product simply because both names appear in search.

Figure, plush doll, or pendant: what are you buying?

  • Display figure: Check the material, dimensions, and whether it stands without support.
  • Plush or vinyl-face doll: Check the body construction, size, and care instructions.
  • Pendant: Check the attachment hardware and whether it is included. Do not assume a display figure can be used as a bag charm.
  • Confirmed character: Read whether the box was opened to identify the contents.
  • Sealed blind box: Confirm the series and understand that the pictured lineup does not mean every design is included.

How to compare two listings fairly

Write down the character, series, format, condition, included packaging, and total checkout cost for each item. If any of those differ, you are not comparing identical purchases. A “secret” mini figure and a large plush doll may appeal to different collectors even when both are from The Monsters.

For a Labubu example, see the Space Adventures Starkiller Surfer listing. Compare it with the Zimomo listing using the photos and written details, not an assumption that one character must be more valuable. Check current availability on the product page.

Questions before checkout

Are Labubu and Zimomo made by different creators?

POP MART identifies them as part of Kasing Lung’s The Monsters. A marketplace title is not a reliable source for a separate creator attribution.

Is every product called “Labubu” a Labubu character?

No. Sellers sometimes use a familiar name broadly. Confirm the exact character and release before ordering.

Does a tail prove a Zimomo is genuine?

No. Character identification and authentication are different tasks. Ask about provenance, packaging, and the exact item shown. Contact JackPop if a listing needs clarification before purchase.
